Amy Michele Gowens

Amy Michele Gowens, 34, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Dr. David Bryant and Brother Jimmy McNeil officiating. Burial will follow in Brooks Cemetery in Young County under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Amy was born on April 13, 1975 in Olney to Helen (Brown) Gowens and the late Charles Gowens. Amy graduated from Graham High School and attended Arlington Baptist College. She received her license as a Respiratory Therapist. She had worked in Graham and Weatherford and was currently a Pulmonary Care Coach for Group & Pension Administrators of Dallas. She had been a resident of Weatherford for the past five years and a member of Victory Baptist Church in Weatherford. Amy was a foster mother for two years and recently adopted her son Leighton.

Survivors include: son, Leighton Gowens of Arlington; mother, Helen Robinson and husband, Brent of Arlington; brother, Aaron Gowens and wife, Ashley of Winnfield, Louisiana; step-sister, Brandi Cox and husband, A.P. of Robinson; niece, Kayla Gowens; nephews, Andy Cox and Kyle Gowens; grandparents, Truman and Velma Gowens of Graham.

Amy was preceded in death by her father, Charles Gowens, grandparents, Ray and Ruth Brown and aunts, Patricia Ward and Beverly Brogdon.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
