Anita Lofton

Anita Louise Schmidt Lofton passed from this life on September 11, 2024 in Graham, Texas. Anita was born at home in Mason, Texas on December 1, 1941 to Harold William and Lois White Schmidt. Anita married Buddy Lofton on June 10, 1961 in Mason Texas. Anita and Buddy had 2 sons: Kenneth Don and Tad Jay. 

Anita and Buddy raised their boys in Lubbock Texas. After the death of Tad in 1984 and Buddy in 1990, Anita moved back home to Mason to live near her parents and brother and sister’s families. In 2023 – Anita along with her sister and brother in law moved to Graham, Texas. 

Anita was a member of the Indiana Baptist Church in Lubbock and the First Baptist Church of Mason. 

Anita was preceded in death by her son Tad, her husband Buddy, her parents Harold & Lois Schmidt, her brother Harold Reagan Schmidt, and a great nephew Keagan Schmidt. 

 Anita is survived by her son – Kenny of San Angelo, her sister & brother in law Emma Katherine & Kirby Groves of Graham, and her sister in law Mary Schmidt of Mason. Aunt Nita is also survived by her niece Sabyn Schmidt Park, nephews Scott Schmidt (Belinda), Sid Schmidt, Kevin Groves (LynDee), and Kerry Groves (Cheryl). Aunt Nita also enjoyed great nieces & nephews William, Rachel, Harrison, Jane, Kaleb, Russell, Brian, Lance, Corey, and Casey. And most recently while living in Graham – Aunt Nita got to know her great great nieces & nephews – Hayden, Jaxon, Kain, Kambrey, Cannon, and Winnie.  

Aunt Nita was a kind soul with a graceful, peaceful spirit. She had a beautiful sadness about her with a smile for all. Anita loved collecting rocks at the ranch and always had a Dr. Pepper. The family appreciates the care provided by Elison Senior Living Community of Graham, Young County Home Health, and Beyond Faith Hospice.  

Graveside service will be Monday, September 16, 2024 at 11:00am at Gooch Cemetery in Mason, Texas under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home of Graham, Texas.
