Arlye Harrell

Arlye Bonnye Harrell was born on September 22, 1922 in Proffitt, Texas. She passed away peacefully on June 7, 2014. She has two long time loves waiting for her in Heaven, Arthur Harrell, her husband of 72 years and her beloved son, Don Harrell, who passed away in April 2000.

Arlye Harrell will never be forgotten because she gave us so much to remember. Arlye taught us that cake is better with extra frosting; that you can never have to many clothes or shoes; a good book is something to treasure; sing like no one is listening; hide your money for a rainy day; enjoy just sitting on the porch; laugh as often as possible; say what you mean and mean what you say; dance while you still can; face creams and nice hair make a difference at any age; appreciate what you have and always be thankful; dogs make you happy and family is your greatest joy.

Arlye married at the age of 15 and had her son while living in a tent under the Possum Kingdom dam when Arthur was working for the Brazos River Authority. In 1946 they bought an old CCC army barrack and used it to build a house on the hill under the water tower in Graham where she lived until 2013. In 1965, she became a licensed vocational nurse and enjoyed helping people for many years. But most of her time was devoted to family.

She is survived by her daughter Jean Martin who lovingly cared for Arlye in her later years and husband Jerry Martin of Lubbock, Texas and Daughter in law- Patricia Harrell of Strawn, Texas. She had four grandchild that adored her: Dr. Ty Harrell- Tillman and husband Dr. Lee Tillman of The Woodlands, Texas, Joe Harrell Flinn and wife Sheila Flinn of Lubbock, Texas. Joni Sears and husand John Sears of North Richland Hills, Texas. Quana Harrell- Campbell and husband David Campbell of Caddo, Texas. Arlye had 7 great grandchildren: Kheila Graves, Daron Campbell, Boone Campbell, Tyler Harrell Flinn, Sara Flinn, Sierra Sears and Trace Harrell Tillman. Other special family ties include Tewana Trimble-Caudle of Graham, Texas, Cotton and Peggy Reynolds of Graham, Texas, David and Joni Rogers of Graham, Texas and Duke and Joni Reynolds of Newcastle, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at the McAdams Cemetery in Palo Pinto County on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 3:00 pm. She will be buried beside her husband of 72 years and her only son. Arlye's song on earth has ended, but the melody will linger always.
