Alice Iberia (Bea) Strowd, 82, of Graham, Texas passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 in Graham. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Nickel, Pastor, and Reverend Richard Segars Director of Administration and Education officiating. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Bea was born April 19, 1928 in Iva, South Carolina to the late Rev. Guy William and Lugenia (Peace) McCarley. She married William Benson Strowd June 19, 1959 in Springtown, Texas. Bea received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Bob Jones University in 1951. She taught thirty plus years at the Graham ISD, Fort Worth ISD and in South Carolina. Bea was a member of the First Baptist Church, Delta Kappa Society, Women's Missionary Union, Retired Teacher's Association, and Campers On Mission. She served as a Sunday School Teacher and she and her husband Bill traveled the world together.
Survivors: husband, Bill Strowd of Graham, daughters, Sharon S. Blichfeldt and husband Howard of Bethel Park, PA., Lisa M. Goldberg of Wichita Falls, TX., son, William Chris Strowd and wife Maricella of Hereford, TX., sister, Shelby Miller of Pensacola, FL., brother, Alfred McCarley of Burton MI., sister-in-law, Ollie McCarley of Hendersonville, N.C., grandchildren, Willa Goldberg, Zachary and Zane Strowd. A brother Rev. Curtis McCarley preceded her in death.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Missions or the Children's Section of the Library of Graham.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 6 until 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.
