Berniece Joan Orton

Berniece Joan Orton, 75, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024 in Graham, Texas surrounded by her son, daughter in law, and care team.
 
 Berniece was born September 8, 1948 in Artesia, California to Marvin Theodore and Josephine Wilhelmina (Vander Veen) Rogers. She married Jimmy Lee Orton May 8, 1970 in Long Beach, California.  Berniece was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.  She loved butterflies, baking cakes, making candies, crafts, dancing, music and spending time with family and friends.
 
 She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lee Orton; father, Marvin Theodore Rogers; mother, Josephine Wilhelmina Rogers; brother, Robert Raymond Rogers; father in law, Miles Texas Bailey; mother in law, Ruth Evelyn Bailey; brother in laws, Glen William Orton; John Albert Orton; William Arthur Orton, Jr.; John Lakatos; sister in laws, Barbara Jean Orton; Carol Ann Kipp; Catherine Sue Orton; Nancy Orton; grandson, David “DJ” Burdick, Jr.

She is survived by her son, Jason Orton and wife, Sheila; sister, Pearl Ann Lakatos; brothers, Marvin Theodore Rogers, Jr. and Jerry Duane Rogers; nieces, nephews, and extended family members. 

Berniece's remains will be scattered along with her late husband and other family members in a private event. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Graham Oaks Care Center for their dedicated and unwavering care and comfort of Berniece.  In lieu of flowers,  the family asks you to make a donation to the Graham Oaks Care Center in Berniece's name.
