Betty Corine Pickard Donnell passed away November 19th in her adopted home town of Fort Worth. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
After graduating Graham High School, Betty married Jack La Rue Donnell and moved to Enid, Oklahoma where she began her career with Champlin Petroleum. A short time later she transferred to the Fort Worth office as a secretary. With Betty's ability, drive and class, she soon became executive assistant to the President. After Champlin was acquired by Union Pacific Resources, Betty continued to serve and assist the CEO until she formally retired. Not ready for retirement, Betty continued to work for her former boss for several after his retirement from UPR. Betty was very professional and definitely did not subscribe to casual Friday at the office. To Betty, casual was wearing 2 inch heels instead of 4 inch.
Outside of her career, Betty enjoyed singing and performing with the choir at Arlington Heights Methodist Church where she made life long friends. Betty and Jack gave countless dogs and cats a safe and loving home.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Addlane and Jack Pickard; husband Jack Donnell; brother in law Bill Spivey.
She was survived by sister Billie Spivey, niece, Tammy Frezza and husband Keith and family, niece, TF & husband K and family, niece and nephew Debby Brandt, Rick Kitchen and families; cousin and friend Lila Hibbitts, Jack Crabtree and wife Cathy, Sam Crabtree, Barbara Inman and husband Harold, and Sandy Robinson.
Betty was especially grateful to Frank and Sylvia Bazan for their friendship and support. She cherished her good friend,Tim Wright who always lifted her spirits. Special thanks to Dixie Clay, Katherine Blackwell, special neighbors Pam and Bill Campbell and Mary and Alan Armstrong. She was very proud to be a honorary member of the Harris family. Our family is very appreciative to Ena Gonzalez and Tammy Cotton for their help and support during these final days.
Donations in Betty's honor should be made to your favorite charity or adopt a homeless pet.
