Betty Sue West

Betty Sue West, 88, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024 in Sherman.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 3 PM in Newcastle Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Betty was born April 7, 1935 in Graham to the late J.C. “Jake” and Mary Lou “Zena” (Beaty) Thompson. She married Donald Lee West July 3, 1954 in Graham and he preceded her in death May 16, 2008. 

Betty graduated from Graham High School in 1954.  Betty worked and put her husband through college at The University of Texas in Austin and then stayed home raising three children.  Betty was a wonderful interior decorator and loved to go antiquing. 

Survivors include: daughters, Donna Deaver of Sherman and Sonya Link and husband, Mark of Peachtree City, Georgia; son, Brian Kirk West of Denton; sisters, Mary Jo Boyd of Benbrook, Mildred Baker of Florida, and Mary Helen Sanders and husband, Don of Benbrook; brother, James Thompson and wife, Carol of Illinois; grandchildren, Jason Deaver, Lindee Nelson, and husband, Zach, Matthew West, Lacee Link, Julie West, Markus Link and wife Bethany, Candra West, and Madee Link; two great-grandchildren, Nakoa West and Noelle Nelson.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Odessa Higgins.
