Betty Jo Thompson, 73, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in Wichita Falls. A family visitation will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass will be held Monday, March 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Betty Jo was born September 18, 1940 in Lebanon, Kentucky to the late William Ernest and Anna Marie (Medley) Mattingly. She married Tommy Thompson January 18, 1963. He preceded her in death October 5, 2010. They moved to Graham in 1967 from Lexington, Kentucky. Betty Jo was the Director of Graham Area United Way for many years. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed traveling and cherished her time being Grammy to her grandkids. Betty Jo was a dedicated Mom and friend who loved to share her life through her stories and generosity.
Survivors include: daughter, Marty Harmon of Austin; son, Ty Thompson of San Diego, California; son-in-law, Dave Otto and wife, Rhonda of Wichita Falls; grandchildren, Mattingly Elisabeth Otto, Nathan Lee Otto, Olivia Ann Otto, Jack Thomas Harmon, and Micah Lohman Miller; sisters, Mary Alice Elkin of Louisville, Kentucky, Terry Uhl of Monroe, Georgia, Roberta Donohue of Lebanon, Kentucky, and Flo Burress of Lebanon, Kentucky; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Ann Thompson Otto, sister, Barbara Ann Smith, and brothers, Rafual Mattingly and Joseph Donald Mattingly.
