Bettye Carey Lester

Bettye Carey Lester, 86, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 in Graham.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Bettye was born October 28, 1936 in Graham to the late Raymon Quillan and Frances Alyne (Henderson) Thompson.  She married Raymond M. Lester and he preceded her in death June 8, 2008.  Bettye owned the Emporium for 29 years and was a real estate broker for several years.  She was a member of the Graham Chamber of Commerce, Redcoats, and her beloved First United Methodist Church where she was raised and continued to be active.

Survivors include; daughter, Connie Carey of Graham; son, Russell Carey, III and wife, Danielle of Whitesboro; grandchildren, Russell Carey, IV, Alyssa Carey, Leslie Anne Pyron, and Paige Darrah and husband, Matt; great grandchildren, Poppy Darrah, Triton Pyron, and Gwenyth Pyron; nieces and nephew, Colby Krause, Angie Ratliff, Scott Smith, and Lisa Williamson.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Ann Carey and a sister, Judy Reynolds.
