Robert "Bob" Beverly Bachman passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2016. Born in Throckmorton, TX on October 5, 1931, he was the son of the late Gordon and Edith Bachman.
He served his country for two years in the Army in Korea and returned home to complete his degree in Animal Husbandry at Texas Tech University, graduating in 1956. He married Barbara Day Warren in November 1956 and they settled in Graham where they raised their family of three children. Bob was a hardworking farmer, rancher and land manager, always striving to raise prime beef cattle using the latest methods. He was a partner in AgriVentures for almost 40 years until he retired in the mid-2000s.
Service to the Graham community included being an active member of the Rotary Club, participating with enthusiasm in the annual Rotary Follies and serving as president from 1991-92. Additionally, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served a term as a deacon.
Barbara passed away in 1994, and he married Marianne Brown Merrick, his high school sweetheart, in June 2001. They lived in Graham for several years and later moved to Edmond, OK. His new extended family included Marianne’s four children and spouses, Ward S. and Linda Merrick, Seminole, TX, Jerry and Valda Buchanan, Tulsa, OK, Frank and Debbie Merrick, Oklahoma City, and Robert and Kellie Merrick, Oklahoma City and their children.
Bob enjoyed traveling and hosting parties from annual dove hunts that grew to 300 guests to just grilling steaks and hamburgers for family and friends. He often offered his culinary talents at charity auctions to cook for groups on a large smoker pulled behind his pickup.
He is survived by his three children, Roberta and husband George Mangos, West Chester, PA, Warren Bachman, Graham and Joanne Bachman and Phil Spencer, Waco, TX, nephew Chris and Ann Condron, Graham, TX, niece Martha and Frank Warner, Beeville, TX and their families, as well as other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Addison Bachman, Kenneth Bachman, John Bachman and sister, Edith Gale Condron.
A memorial celebrating his life will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 11:00 at the First Presbyterian Church in Graham, TX. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements directed by Morrison Funeral Home, Graham, TX.
