Buddy Broomhall, age 80, passed away at his home in Fort Worth on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. A funeral service will be held at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery in Bryson under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Buddy was born on May 20, 1943 in Belzoni, Mississippi to Cornelius and Louise (Spivy) Broomhall. Buddy lived a life that was full of varied experiences. He started life in the cotton fields of the Mississippi Delta. His next adventure was the U.S. Army where he served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and spent time in Korea. After his release from the Army in Mineral Wells at Fort Wolters, he settled in Tarrant County. There he was employed 32 years with Tarrant County, eventually rising to the title of Assistant to the Commissioner. His avocation was buying, selling, and working on cars. He was a generous man who enjoyed being able to give to his children and grandchildren, and friends. Papa Buddy said not to thank him for the gifts, but to thank God that he had it to give.
Buddy is survived by his daughters, Brenda Fields and husband Terry of Bryson, and Faye Harwell and husband Bob of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Mallorie Robinson and husband Clay, Matthew Broomhall and fiancé Emmalee Kornowski, Mackenzie Goodner and husband Larz, and Codie Fields and fiancé John Collins; great grandchildren, Kate and Luke; and sister Dorothy Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother of his children, Alice Fay Broomhall, great grandson Kolton Goodner. His siblings, Eugene, Norlaine, Otha Ray, Ailene, Hilda, Billy, Travis, and Marty also preceded him in death.
