Buddy Knox

H.A. "Buddy" Knox, 87, was called to heaven on Sunday, March 13, 2011 in Graham. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in Pioneer Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Buddy was born to Hugh Clarence and Ruth Hanks Knox on February 19, 1924 in Butler, Pennsylvania, and at an early age, moved to Graham. During WWII, he served in the 394th signal company of the ninth army air corps and later, was in the European Theater. Buddy married his soul mate, Sammye Langston, on May 11, 1947. He was very active in the community as a charter member of the Graham Evening Lion's Club, on the board of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Samaritan Group. He was a member of Young County Masonic Lodge #485, a member of Graham Regional Hospital Auxiliary and delivered Meals on Wheels when he was able. Until his retirement, Buddy acted as president of H.A. Knox Oil Co., Inc.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Sammye Knox of Graham; three children, John Knox and wife, Wanda of Graham, Ken Knox and wife, M.C. of Graham, and Lisa Knox Windlinger and husband, Jim of Dallas; eight grandchildren, Heather and Jeff Knox, Krisa Knox De La Cruz, Kimberly, Kelsey and Kenzie Knox, Jacob and Michael Windlinger; three great grandchildren, Kamberlin, Kennedy, and Sage; three sisters, Ruth Downey of Friendswood, Kathleen Walker of Clute, and Lila Oatman of Merced, California; two brothers, Jim Knox of Arlington and H.C. Knox of Graham; loving caretaker, Crystal Castro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and three brothers.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Samaritan Fund, Box 88, Graham, Texas 76450, Graham Regional Hospice, 523 Elm, Graham, Texas 76450, of Graham Evening Lions Club, Box 411, Graham, Texas 76450.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
