Carmen Nevarez

Carmen Rodriguez Nevarez, 69, passed peacefully away amongst her loving family Thursday, November 7, 2024 at her home in Graham, Texas. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11 A.M. in the First Baptist Church of Graham, Texas. 

Carmen was born October 3, 1955 in Eloy, Arizona to the late Maria Rodriguez Garza and Gregorio Garza. She married her forever date, Nicolas Nevarez on January 25, 1972 in Wellington, Texas. Carmen and her family moved to Graham in 1985 from Shamrock, Texas. Carmen was an ambitious entrepreneur. Inspired by her upbringing and internal desire, she always strived to obtain a better life for her family. Her hard work culminated in her owning Carmen’s Diner, which was a mainstay in the Graham community for several years. 

Following her successful business career, Carmen was employed by the First Baptist Church. She loved sewing, painting ceramics, cleaning, and being outside with nature. Carmen enjoyed playing Loteria with family, dancing, and attending the annual family reunions. Carmen was a devoted wife, loving sister, and loving mother and grandmother. Her loving spirit and soul brightened the world and made it a better a place. 

Survivors include; husband, Nicolas Nevarez of Graham; daughters, Nora Nevarez and partner, Terri Huffman of Graham and Christina Trester and husband Billy of Graham; son, Nicholas Nevarez, Jr. of Amarillo; grandchildren, Alexandria Trester, Emery Potts, Tatum Trester, and Faith Nevarez; brother, Saul Garza and wife, Mary of Childress and sister, Nancy Garza and partner, Mary of Paige; 5 brother-in-laws and 3 sister-in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, 6 brothers, 4 sisters, and sister-in-law, Olga Villanueva.
