Charles E. Brown of Graham, Texas passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in Holliday Cemetery in Holliday, Texas. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Graham with Dr. Richard Reed officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Mr. Brown was born in Dallas County on July 17, 1925 to the late Ledge Wood and Crinner (Jenkins) Brown. He graduated from Carter Riverside High School in Fort Worth. He served in the United States Navy aboard the battleship USS Saratoga with the Pacific Fleet under the command of Lord Louis Mountbatten. He was awarded a fleet appointment to the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he enrolled in Texas Christian University where he graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

While attending TCU, he met Ruby Marie Parish whom he married on June 30, 1946 at the Parish Ranch home in Archer County.

Upon graduation from college, Mr. Brown began his life long career as a petroleum geologist working for Birdwell Oil Company, Wichita Falls; Seaboard Oil Company, Abilene; Cosden Petroleum, Big Spring; Wes-Mor Drilling Company, Graham; and Vice-President of Trumpter Petroleum Company in Fort Worth.

Mr. Brown was Charter President of the Graham Geological Society, a fifty-nine year member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, North Texas Geological Society, TIPRO, American Institute of Professional Geologists and American Association of Petroleum Geologists division of Environmental Geosciences. He was a Master Mason for sixty-six years with the Masons of Texas.

Mr. Brown was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Graham serving on the Board of Stewards in several capacities including Chairman of the Commission of Evangelism. He was a member of the Graham Country Club.

Mr. Brown was a loving and generous husband, father, and grandfather. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and devotion for family, friends and God. He was a gracious and gregarious gentleman who was much beloved.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings M.C. Brown, William L. Brown, Myrtle Wilks, and Nellie Mathis.

Survivors include: his wife of 65 years Ruby Parish Brown of Graham; daughter, Deborah "Dee" Deupree and husband, James Michael of Fort Worth and granddaughter, Darcy Parish Deupree of Fort Worth.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Memory Care Unit at Horizon Bay for their loving care during his illness and the staff of Graham Regional Hospice.
