Charles David Campbell of Corsicana Texas departed this life peacefully on April 26, 2012 with his family by his side. Charles was born July 17, 1956 at Laredo Air force Base, TX. He arrived in Corsicana TX in 1957 where he spent his formative years attending James L. Collins Catholic School and graduating from Corsicana High School in 1974.
In 1978 he graduated with a degree in business from Texas Tech University in Lubbock,Texas. As a college student he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order and served as President of the Student Body his senior year. Upon graduation from college he was awarded a Rotary Graduate Fellowship and subsequently received his MBA in finance from the Australian Graduate School of Management of the University of New South Wales in Sydney Australia.
Charles' professional career originated in the banking industry and throughout his life he displayed a keen ability to manage financial resources. In 1985 Charles' profession took him to California where he lived for the next twenty-three years; developing a love for the area and establishing many close friendships. Serving as a Vice President with Wells Fargo Bank, he lived in both San Francisco and San Diego.
On April 20, 1991 he wed Miss Hollye Hammond of Graham, Texas and the couple settled in San Diego California as Hollye pursued a career with American Airlines. Charles and Hollye both had a love for the food and dining business and in 1997 they opened and operated a seafood restaurant which they managed for the next ten years. In 1998 their restaurant was voted the best Seafood restaurant in northern San Diego County.
His love for banking and people led him back to his beginnings and he took a position with the Community National Bank and Trust in 2008. It was during this time that he renewed his passion for civic involvement in his home town as he was always concerned with the welfare of his fellow man. He has been active in Rotary International, The Legacy Outfitters, Family Service and was a trustee of Navarro County Health Services Foundation.
Charles was preceded in death by his father in- law, John C. Hammond and brother in- law J.T. Pass. He is survived by his wife, Hollye, parents Dr. and Mrs. David Campbell, his sister Chari and brother-in law Bob Hust of Houston, and sister Carolyn Pass of Aledo. Charles is also survived by his mother-in-law Mrs. Frances Hammond, sister-in-law Mary Sanders, sister-in-law Libby Burkett and brother-in-law Zack Burkett all of Graham, brother-in-law Chad Hammond and wife Heather of Tokyo Japan. Charles and Hollye had a love for young people and took an active part in the lives of many nieces and nephews throughout their family.
Services are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home of Graham TX. Grave side services were held at Pioneer Cemetery in the Hammond family plot in Graham at3:30 PM Monday April 30. On the following Thursday, May 3, there will be a memorial Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Corsicana, TX at 4 PM.
