Charles Edward Hipp, Jr

Charles Edward Hipp, Jr. was born in Dickens County, Texas on April 10, 1926 and he parted from us on July 3, 2009 to go and be with our lord. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Bryson.

Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years Elizabeth Ann Shanafelt Hipp of Bryson, Texas.

Edward is survived by his two children and five grandchildren: his son, Charlie Hipp and wife Merrie of Kilgore, Texas and grandchildren, Hanna Harris and husband Ryan of Honolulu, Hawaii, Heidi Hipp of Hangzhou, China, and Eric Hipp of Longview, Texas. His daughter, Diane Tucker and husband Rick of Graham and grandchildren Alexanndra Loftis and Brayden Tucker of Graham.

In his life, Edward did many things that most people only dream of doing. He saw the countryside of a foreign land and was a part of history. He was a World War II Veteran, serving his country as a staff sergeant in Germany. Back home in the US, he participated in his father's rodeo, roman riding and presenting the 6 flags of Texas with the 24 white horses. He also ran his own well service for several years employing many of Graham's citizens. He was a 50 year member of the Young County Masonic Lodge #485 in Graham, and an avid member of the Boy Scouts, earning the Silver Beaver for his many years of service.

He was a man of wisdom. That wisdom he left to us in his stories of how life once was, how honesty and your good name are worth the world. It is in those stories that his memory will live on in our hearts and forever guide us.

Memorials may be made to the P.K. Drillettes c/o First State Bank in Graham.
