Charles Edward Stevenson, 97, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 in San Angelo. A Military graveside will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Charles was born May 29, 1918 in Silverton, Texas to the late Telephus Henry and Dixie (Northcutt) Stevenson. He was an airplane pilot transporting passengers and mail from U.S. to Central and South America. He attained the rank of Corporal while he was on loan to the military to train pilots. He served in the Army Air Corps as an air operations specialist. After the service Charles was a flight dispatcher for American Airlines in New York. After retirement he was involved in many business ventures including owner of a restaurant and jewelry store. He was a member of Airline Pilots Associations and Embry Riddle Navigation. Charles moved to San Angelo in 1990 from Boerne. He was a member of Heights Baptist Church in San Angelo.
Survivors include; daughter, Dixie Whitfield of Littlerock, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews and his close friends in San Angelo.
Charles was preceded in death by a sister, Morean Cook and five brothers.
