Christella Sue Jones

Christella Sue Jones, 88, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021 in Wichita Falls. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. and funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the Cowboy Church Gatherin’. Burial will follow in Farmer Cemetery in Farmer under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Christella was born January 16, 1933 in Farmer, TX to the late Malcolm and Suda (Washburn) Farmer. She married Robert T. “Bob” Jones April 7, 1951 in Weatherford. She and Bob founded Arc Electric Co. in Hurst Texas in 1957.

Chris was the youngest of five sisters and around 1937 her family moved from their ranch in Farmer to Ft. Worth. She loved to go with her father to the Stockyards where he was a cattle broker. This instilled her love for horses and cattle at a young age. Her mother Suda, owned and operated the Farmer Café in Ft. Worth. When she and Malcolm divorced he returned to the ranch in Farmer. Christella loved to spend summers with her dad in Farmer as a young girl. She hauled her two daughters Linda & Lisa for many years showing Paint horses where she met many lifelong friends. Chris returned to her roots when she and Bob purchased land in Farmer and she was able to enjoy her dream of having cattle and living on a ranch. After Bob passed away she worked for many years as a volunteer at the Food Bank in Graham and at Graham Regional Hospital.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son James Terry Jones of Austin.

Survivors include: daughters, Linda Gleaves of Loving and Lisa Strong of Hurst; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
