Claud Fletcher Hearne

Claud Fletcher Hearne, 92, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022 in Graham.  Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 11 a.m. in Loving Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Claud was born February 9, 1930 on the family farm in Young County near Newcastle to Charlie Lee and Jessie Cleo Mayes Hearne.  He was the youngest of their three sons.  He grew up on the farm walking back and forth to the school no matter what the weather.  He said, in wet weather, he would just about get dried off when it was time to walk back home where he would do the chores.  When he was old enough, he got a job delivering ice blocks for the Newcastle Ice House.  Claud made a profession of his faith in a revival in the Newcastle Park arbor.  He was baptized by his pastor, Johnny W. Barrett.  He loved recounting memories of his time in Newcastle.  He went to school one year at Loving school.  As an adult, Claud spent his years working in the oil field in various jobs across Texas.  In 1976, Claud married Christine Jolly who preceded him in death in 2016.

He is survived by his two grandchildren, Justin Hearne (Marla) and Crystal Ann Stewart (Travis), daughter-in-law, Ann Hearne Divine (Johnny), eleven great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Lois Hearne, nieces, Helen Burleson and Karen Rhone, nephews, Larry, Ray and Darrell Hearne, and Christine’s children, Eddie and Jimmy Jolly and June Smith.

Claud was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons, Jerry Claud Hearne and Neal Fletcher Hearne, grandson, Neal Chadwick Hearne, two brothers, OB Hearne and Lee Hearne, and niece, Phyllis Stansell.

Thank you to the nurses from Carewell Home Health and Beyond Faith Hospice.
