Colleen Hamlett

Elsie Colleen Moss Hamlett passed away on February 12th, 2013. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, February 15th, at 3pm, in the First United Methodist Church in Graham.

Born June 3rd, 1936 in Dallas, Texas, Colleen grew up in Ft. Worth. The oldest of five children, Colleen blessed those around her with a warm smile and a generous heart. Her giving spirit lead her into teaching and after receiving a degree in Special Education from TCU in 1958, Colleen would spend the next 34 years as a devoted teacher.

In 1958, Colleen married Jim Stanley Hamlett, Jr. Her passion for family was paramount in her life. Colleen was part of a multi-generational family, whose annual 4th of July gatherings at PK Lake are the stuff of legend and more than a few tall tales.

Colleen's faith was another pillar in her legacy. Her giving called her to organize pre-school classes, support groups and fundraisers. Colleen and Jim both were ordained as lay ministers in Stephen Ministry at First United Methodist Church of Graham.

Colleen's loving sense of humor, giving soul and caring smile were a blessing to all that were graced by her presence. May she now rest in peace.
