Heaven gained another roughneck this past week far too soon. David Lynn Carter, affectionately known as “Carter” to his closest friends and fellow friends in the patch, passed away peacefully at home on December 20th, 2024 after an elongated battle with an illness.
David, a graduate of Graham High School in 1978, left behind a remarkable legacy of determination and dedication. With over 30 years of experience in the oil field, primarily with Schlumberger Well Service and Weatherford International, his stories and one-liners were always captivating and brought joy to everyone who listened.
Beyond his professional achievements, David’s passion for his family and friends was truly his greatest strength. He was a hardworking husband, devoted father, grandfather, and friend to all. Whether it was tending to the family farm with his brother Michael, fishing the ponds with his son Cody, bird hunting with his daughter Lyndee, shooting targets with his grandson Ryan, or simply watching his grandson Reagan and Colton play under the Friday Night Lights, David’s love for the outdoors and for his family was evident in every activity.
David’s family and friends were deeply affected by his passing, and he is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy DeeAnn Carter; their son, Cody Carter; his spouse, Jenny Carter; their sons, Reagan and Colton Carter; David's daughter, Lyndee Carter Robinson; her son, Ryan Robinson; and her fiancé, Rick Jardine. David is also survived by his brother, Michael Carter, his family, sister-in-law Phylis Gore, and her family, and brother-in-law Jimmy Harris, his wife Cynthia Harris, and their family. David Carter, a vibrant and charming individual, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lasting impression on everyone he met. His colorful personality, witty charm, and tall tales will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
David was preceded in death by his father, Harold Carter, his mother, Sue Carter, and his sister-in-law, Barbara Carter. Godspeed “Carter” may you fly high with the angels and continue telling the tall tales with the love one’s of past.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Beyond Faith Hospice in David’s memory. A memorial service will be held at Morrison Funeral Home in Graham, Texas on January 11th, 2025 at 11:00am.
