Dick Taylor

R.J. "Dick" Taylor, 90, of Graham, Texas went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 17, 2015.  The family will be at the Morrison funeral home on Friday evening from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm for visitation.  The memorial service will be at the Morrison funeral home chapel on Saturday morning at 11:00 am, immediately followed by a graveside gathering with military honors at Pioneer Cemetery in Graham.  Arrangements are being handled by Morrison Funeral home in Graham.

He served his country in World War II with the U.S.  Navy on the Island of Peleliu in the South Pacific. He returned home to meet and marry his wife of more than 68 years, Billie Fain Taylor. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather with a huge heart and sweet disposition, known as “Paw” to most. Everyone who knew him loved him for his sense of humor, story-telling abilities, and generous spirit.  He was known for his passion for fishing, whether it be snapper fishing off the coast, yanking yellow-cat out of Lake Graham, teaching the grandkids to fish off the dock, or playfully  taunting others fishing behind his house. He was equally known for the pecan crop that dominated county and regional pecan shows year after year.  Many homes in the Graham area are a product of his handiwork. He was a member of Eastside Church of Christ in Graham.  He was born November 8, 1925 in Archer City, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Virginia Trotter and Marie Joiner, brother Roy Lack, and most recently his son Jerry Taylor.

He is survived by his wife Billie Taylor of Graham,  daughter Robbie Read and husband Dwight of Graham, son Robert Taylor and wife Lisa of Lake Dallas, grandson Kelley Read and wife Tracy of Graham, grandson Richard Herndon and wife Kimberly of Plano, grandson Stewart Herndon and wife Kelli of Norman, granddaughter Tara Hanley and husband Tony of Newcastle, grandson Eric Taylor and wife Misty of Crescent, granddaughter Heather Nugen and husband Will of Weatherford, grandson Jerry Dale Taylor and wife Tiffany of Newcastle, and twenty-one great grandchildren:  Kole, Klayton, Brooke, Sydney, Hunter, Brady, Maddie, Rory, Sam, Kelsee, McKinley, Tristin, Hannah, Tanner, Jaden, Brock, Kaavn, Logan, Gage, Ashleigh, Jerry Richard, and #22 is on the way.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Cherokee Home for Children at 13355 TX-16 in Cherokee, TX 76832.  The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to the superior team at Accolade Hospice in Burleson for the fact that they loved us like family during this difficult time.
