Donald Lee Speer

Donald Lee Speer, 81, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in Graham, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Dan McBride pastor of Morningside Baptist Church and Andy Graham pastor of Southside Baptist Church in Olney officiating. Burial will follow in Loving Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Don was born on March 17, 1930 in Loving to the late Homer Aaron and Nellie Margaret (Birdwell) Speer. He married Gilda "Faye" Hickerson on April 24, 1949 in Cleburne and she preceded him in death on October 6, 1994. Don married Dorothy Juanita Biggers on January 30, 1997 in Graham. He was service manager at Broncho Chevrolet and later owned and operated Don Speer Auto Salvage in Odessa, Texas. He retired and moved back to Graham, Texas in 1987. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, Royal Theater in Archer City, and jamborees. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church, volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Graham, Texas and was also a member of Lions Club. He enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and reconnecting with old friends.

Survivors include: devoted wife, Dorothy Juanita Speer of Graham; sons, Donald Duane Speer and wife, Teresa of Odessa, Kelly Kent Speer and wife, Cheryl of Gardendale, and Zon Max Speer and wife, Debbie of Lancaster; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
