Donald D. Thetford, 88, died Thursday, December 1, 2016 after a long and debilitating illness. Born the youngest of nine in Grayson, County, Texas on July 28, 1928, Donald was a life-long Baptist who was saved in a Brush Arbor revival meeting at age 9, and served as a deacon for many years.
He has "run the race, finished the course," and is now home with His Lord and Savior.
He was preceded in death by his parents William A. and Lona Lynn Thetford of Perrin, Texas and four sisters Ilah, Cleo, Evelyn, and Margaret and two brothers Clayton and Doyle.
Donald is survived by his wife, Mary Barnett Thetford of Houston, his daughter Cheryl and husband, Steve Grotheer of Grapevine and his son Bruce and wife Juliana Thetford of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania.
He is survived by six grandchildren: Jeff Irwin of Queens, New York, Mary Beth Grotheer of Dallas, Daniel Thetford and wife Erica of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Anya Seidel and husband Robert of Fremont, California, John Thetford and Marina Thetford of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, as well as four great grandchildren: Nina and Julian Thetford of Williamsport, Pennsylvania and Joseph and Luke Seidel of Fremont, California.
Donald is also survived by his two brothers L.D. Thetford and wife Verna of Graham and Lynn Thetford and wife Charlene of Mineral Wells.
He will be greatly missed by a host of friends, neighbors, and work associates, as well as numerous Thetford and Barnett family members.
A caring, friendly, and generous man, Donald was and is greatly loved.
