Don Miller "Donnie Mac", age 75, of Austin, Texas died peacefully at St David's Hospital in Austin, Texas surrounded by his loving family on the morning of July 31, 2015. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 06, 2015 at 10:00 in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Donnell Cemetery in Eliasville, Texas where he will be laid to rest next to his loving wife, Jean Miller, under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Don was born February 8, 1940 to the late Margaret and Mac Miller of Eliasville, Texas. He is survived by his daughters Kris Miller of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Kim Miller of Leander, Texas; his sister JoAnn Robitaille; brothers Tom Miller and Mike Miller and his grandchildren: Jason Hedrick and wife Tanvi and great grandson Keshav; Justin Hedrick and fiance Hali Moore and great grandson Oran; Chad Moorhead and wife Lauren, Nicole Ellis and husband Tim, Aaron Moorhead, and Nate Hedrick.
Don was a loving and caring brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, cousin and uncle. He was the corner stone to his family and a strong role model for his siblings, children and grandchildren and took an active and supportive role in their up bringing. He was always a part of every venture in their lives. He was also active in the lives of his neighbors and their children by being a friend, coach and grandfather figure. He was a person that would help anyone in need and did, on many levels. After losing his lovely bride of 53 years, whom he missed terribly, he expressed his overwhelming desire to be reunited with her.
A funny and social man, Don loved to joke and laugh and spend time talking to and consoling family and friends whom all meant so much to him. He was an avid hunter and fisher. He loved football and talking about his glory days with his Graham football team mates. Don worked diligently to keep contact with his Graham classmates, football team mates and coach.
We have all been so blessed to have had this man in our lives. Dad, Don, Donnie Mac, Papa and friend: however he was regarded, he will be more than greatly missed by us all.
Family visitation will from 5-7pm on Wednesday at Morrison Funeral Home.
The family is asking instead of flowers to please send donations in memory of Don Miller to the JD Burke Scholarship Memorial Foundation in Graham, Texas. This is for need based seniors that are awarded a $1,000 scholarship every semester for two years to get them started. These deserving young men and women would otherwise no get the help from home. Don would have loved this!
