Donny Ray Choate

Donny Ray Choate, 63, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at his home in Graham. Funeral services will held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 10:00 am in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Medlan Chapel Cemetery in Young County under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Donny was born on August 27, 1947 in Graham to the late Herman and Lois (Hill) Choate. He married Shirley Ann Hampton on April 29, 1967 in Graham. Donny graduated from Graham High School in 1965 and attended Cisco Jr. College. He owned Dawson Real Estate where he was a Real Estate Broker. He was a member of Salem Crestview Methodist Church. Donny was a member of the Kiwanis, Evening Lions, Key Club Sponsor, Young County Masonic Lodge #485, Republican Men, Boy Scout Master of Troop 92 for 20 years, and a longtime Little League Coach.

Survivors: wife, Shirley Choate of Graham; sons, Gabe Choate and wife, Sheila of Graham and Josh Choate and wife, Ashley of Fort Worth; sister, Shirley Stice and husband, Lawrence of Abilene; brothers, Jim "Sonny" Choate and wife, Jeanie of Granbury, Larry Choate and wife, Norma of Graham, and Billy Choate and wife, Marie of Graham; 6 granddaughters, Lindsay Choate, Libby Choate, Lainey Choate, Campbell Choate, Bennett Choate, and Maddie Catron.
Memorials may be made to Donny Choate Memorial Scholarship Kiwanis Fund or Graham Regional Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
