Dorothy was born on January 18, 1932 in Graham, Tx. She grew up in Graham and attended Graham High School. She married the love of her life, Charles Manuel Clinton, on September 18, 1954 at Eastside Church of Christ in Graham.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Buck and Mary Helvey and by one grandson, Luke Clinton. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles Clinton; three children and their spouses, Randy and Debbie Clinton, Carla and Mike Rodgers, and Kevin and Becky Clinton: and 11 grandchildren, Lindsey, Brad, Brandi, Hunter, Hailey, Charles, Logan, Mikaela, Morgan, Makenzie, and Zachary; and 1 great-grandson, Kingston and 1 great-grandaughter on the way. She is also survived by several cousins.
Dorothy was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. Dorothy was affectionately called Momom by all her grandkids. She loved her family with all her heart and was never happier than when all her children were gathered in her kitchen eating her amazing home-cooked meals. Many treasured memories were made over platefuls of macaroni and cheese, fried okra and potatoes, mashed potatoes, banana pudding, chocolate surprise, coconut cream pie, and German chocolate cake.
Dorothy worked over the years as a phone operator, elementary school secretary in Denton ISD, and at the Graham ISD Daycare Center. She was a dedicated volunteer at her church and in her community. She served others with her cooking, sewing, and a generous spirit. She also had a passion for nature, gardening, and growing plants and beautiful flowers. Dorothy enjoyed traveling and socializing with friends; and was known to be a challenging opponent in a game of 42 or train.
We are going to miss her fun-loving spirit, her encouraging words, her hugs, her smile, her gentleness, and her kindness. Dorothy was adored by her family, loved by her friends, and respected by her church and community. Dorothy completed her race on this earth with a victorious smile and Jesus met her with open arms at the finish line. She fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
All of Momom’s family can only imagine what her entrance into the gates of heaven must have been like. She gazes into the gleaming gardens surrounding the Father’s house and finds herself walking through a patchwork of blooming flowers, walls of climbing ivy, and rows of fruit trees. She picks up a watering can and begins to tend to her Father’s garden with such a wonderful sense of peace, joy, and freedom. She is at home in this place.
