Dorothy Lee Burton

We celebrate for Dorothy Lee Burton who went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, September 20, 2015.  Bro. Jack Ridlehoover will conduct a graveside memorial service at Pioneer Cemetery in Graham, Texas at 2:00 on Wednesday, September 23, 2015.

Dorothy was born in Breckenridge, Texas, to Alfred and Stella Parsons on February 15, 1923.  On April 26, 1941 Dorothy married Charles “Fritz” Burton who preceded her in death on November 28, 1990 after 49 years of marriage.  They lived in Denver City and Aspermont before retiring to Lake Graham at Graham, Texas, in November 1981, where they were members of First Baptist Church.

Moving just down the street from her daughter and son-in-law, Carole and James (Butch) Parker, Abilene became Dorothy’s home in July 2004.  After her move to Abilene, she became a member of Broadview Baptist Church.

The joy of her life was her family:  daughter and husband, Carole and James (Butch) Parker of Abilene, Texas;  grandson and wife, Kurt and Debby Parker and their children, Grace and Dylan all of Plano, Texas;   granddaughter and husband, Sheri and Pat Pattillo of Kerrville, Texas, their son, Parker Pattillo of Waco, Texas and their son, Dixon Pattillo of West Point Military Academy, N.Y.

Dorothy was also preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Stella, a sister, Estelle and three brothers, Clarence, Ray and Jim.

Many thanks go to the staff at Windcrest (Alzheimer’s) Healthcare Center in Abilene for the friendship, love and care they have shown “D.B.” over the last 9 years as well as Dr. Will Shudde and Dr. Sandy Hazelip.  The love and care shown by everyone associated with the Hospice of the Big Country over these last 6 weeks has been deeply appreciated as well.  And many thanks go to all the friends who faithfully stayed in contact with D.B. through cards, letters, calls, and visits.  She cherished your friendship.
