Doug Jones

Doug Jones, 87, of Weatherford, Texas passed away June 19, 2019.  A family memorial service will be held July 20, 2019.  Arrangements are with Morrison Funeral Home, Graham, Texas.

Doug was born September 17, 1931 in Slaton, Texas to the late B.B. and Nellie Jones.  Doug was the seventh of nine children, now all deceased.  He graduated from Lubbock Cooper High School and attended Texas Tech University.  He married Doris Dell Allen, February 3, 1951.  Doug was engaged in farming in the Texas Panhandle and was the General Manager of Affiliated Mercantile in Amarillo, Texas.

Doug was a member of the Noon Lions Club in Weatherford as well as the Lions Club in Graham.  He was also the Kiwansis Citizen of the Year.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Graham and built many handicap ramps for anybody that needed one.  He considered it his calling in life to help anyone in need no matter what the task.  He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Weatherford, a member of Olton Masonic Lodge #1257 and a 32 degree Scottish Mason.

His nickname "Dirty Doug" was given to him by his friends for his unique ability to stay clean, organized, and neat, no matter what he was doing.

He is survived by his wife Doris of 68 years, son Kenny Jones and wife Denise of Weatherford, daughters, MeLinda Smesny and husband Steve of Weatherford, Cindy Gidden and husband Rocky of Cibolo.  He had five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers Doug would desire that donations be made to, Weatherford Noon Lions Club, P.O. Box 25, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
