Earl Lee Cowart, Jr., passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2012, in North Richland Hills, TX. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 23, at 11:30 a.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home, Graham, TX.
Earl was born on February 2, 1920 in Silverton, Texas to the late Earl Lee Cowart, Sr., and Inez Valentine Cowart. He graduated from Amarillo High School. He married Gwendolyn Mae Edwards in 1946. Earl was a veteran of the Navy and fought in WWII. He graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering and from the S. College of Optometry with a Dr. of Optometry. He practiced optometry in Wichita Falls, TX.
Survivors include: wife of 66 years, Gwen Cowart of Fort Worth; daughters Edie Scott of Fort Worth, Ellen Walker of Albuquerque, NM, and Laura Altz and son-in-law Bill Altz of Rhome, TX; grandchildren, Dante Walker, Mel Walker and Rachel Walker of Albuquerque and Greg Altz of Rhome; sister Betty Gibson of Asheville, NC and brother Tom Cowart of Canute, OK.
