Edna Maxine Coats

Edna Maxine Coats, 89, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012 in Graham.

Edna was born on October 31, 1922 in Browntown, Kansas to the late Arthur Oliver and Clara Belle (Hardwick) Weaver. She married Elwin Carvelle Coats on March 5 1938 in Hollis, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July, 7 1969. Edna graduated from Olney Hamilton Hospital Nursing School in 1970. She loved being a nurse and early in her career, worked as the only Cardiac Care Nurse that was allowed as an LVN @ St. Johns Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Edna also worked for Wichita General in Wichita Falls with her final step of nursing in Wellington, Kansas at Sumner County Nursing Home. She will be known for her quick wit and easy laughter. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include: son, Thomas Carvelle Coats of San Antonio; daughter, Carla Fullerton of Graham; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by daughter, Sally King, son, Arthur Hugh, grand-daughter, Kate Fulks and sister, Lea Weaver Pringle.
