Edward Alan Karper, Sr., 94, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at his home in Graham. Memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Ed was born August 12, 1918 in Lubbock to Robert Earl and Sophia Grace (Dickinson) Karper, Sr. He graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Geology. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving as 1st Lt. of a Subchaser during in WW II. Ed married Nell Carroll May 14, 1964 in Santa Fe, NM. He was the owner of Karper Oil and Gas and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of West Texas Oil and Gas Association, Independent Producers Association of America, North Texas Oil and Gas Association, and a former member of Graham Independent School Board.
Survivors include: wife, Nell Karper of Graham; daughter, Kristin Karper of Graham; sons, Ed Karper, Jr. of Graham, Philip Karper and wife, Becky of Graham, and Gene Karper and wife, Alison of Graham; grandchildren, Kallie Karper Pitcock, Kate Karper, Kent Karper, Dustin Karper, Ryan Karper and great grandchild, Karper Louis Pitcock.
He was preceded in death by former wife, Frances Ford Karper and a brother, Robert Earl Karper, Jr.
