Ellie Brown

Ellie Brown, 96, went home to be with her Savior on Christmas Day 2014. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Bryson and burial will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery.

Ellie was born August 9, 1918 in Graham Texas to the late Robert J. (Bob) Robertson and Wilmoth (Still) Robertson. She was the youngest of 14 children and grew up in the Rocky Mound community near Graham Texas. She attended Rocky Mound and Graham schools and graduated from Graham High School in 1936. Upon graduation she attended Bailey's Beauty School in Lubbock Texas. Ellie was close to her older sister Beulah Robertson Brown, who had recently married Daily Brown. In the late 30's Beulah introduced Ellie to her new brother-in-law Travis Brown. As a result of this introduction a story of sisters marrying brothers unfolded and Ellie and Travis were married in 1938. Upon marriage, they moved to Bryson, raised a family, and were involved in Church and community.

Ellie loved music and played the piano from a young age. As an active member of the First Baptist Church, she served as song leader and church pianist for many decades. She was known for her kindness and good food which she generously shared with the many people she befriended during her long life.

Ellie was preceded in death by her husband Travis Brown, son Royce Brown, and sister Beulah Brown.

Survivors include: daughter-in-law Betty Brown of Newcastle and grandson Bobby Brown of Graham; daughter Donna Brown Ainsworth and husband Benjie Ainsworth of Graham; grandson Kevin Ainsworth of Dallas; and grandson Brandon Ainsworth and his wife Heather and their children Morgan and Marcus all of Brentwood Tennessee.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 280 Bryson, Texas 76427.

Family visitation will be held Saturday from 5 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
