Evelyn Janell McCormack, 71, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024 in Fort Worth. Graveside funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday May 7, 2024 at Wray Cemetery in Young County.
Evelyn was born May 28, 1952 in Austin to the late Hazel Wynell (Bullock) Pannell and Johnny Milton Pannell. She was a retired LVN nurse having worked in the Denton area. She had an extraordinary gift for comforting her often elderly patients. She was drawn to those that were suffering from loneliness and isolation helping them feel valued and deeply cared for.
She was raised in a musical family and enjoyed singing hymns the rest of her life. She loved playing games with family and friends in a social setting.
She always was willing to lend a helping hand, whether it was cleaning the church, leading worship, or singing a carefully practiced song. She partnered with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) to train for missionary work after which her family was deployed for an extended trip to Belarus and returned for another trip shortly thereafter.
Survivors include; daughter, Sara McCormack of Fort Worth; brother, Larry Pannell of Denton; niece, Jennifer Rosenboom and husband Chad of Denton.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Claudia Pannell.
Family visitation will be Monday May 6, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.
In her memory, please consider making a donation payable to the Parkinson's Research Foundation at https://www.parkinson.org/donate.
