Fern Knox

Fern Evelyn Knox, 88, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at her home in Graham.  Funeral service will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 10 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel.

Fern was born April 19, 1935 in Markley to Robert Melvin and Vera Beatrice (Calvin) Cornell.  Fern graduated from Graham High School in 1953 where she was a cheerleader and played volleyball for the Steers.  She married Hugh C. Knox, Jr. January 15, 1955 in Graham.  They moved to Denver City, TX and lived there from 1956 until 1998.  She taught 2nd grade in Denver City from 1970 until her retirement in 1998. They moved back to Graham after her retirement.  She was a member of the Graham First Baptist Church and enjoyed her Sunday School class there very much.  Fern loved being a coach’s wife and a school teacher.  She loved traveling the USA in their RV and she travelled the world too, visiting countries in Europe, Middle East, and Asia.  Her hobbies included gardening and watching football.

Survivors include: husband, Hugh C. Knox, Jr. of Graham; daughters, Rhonda Foster of Graham and Connie Knox of Graham; sons, Darrell Knox of Ruidoso, New Mexico and Hugh C. Knox, III of Graham; sister, Sandra Caufield of Winfield, Kansas, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Cornell, mother, Vera Bashline, and step father, Cary Grant Bashline.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
