Fleeta Louise Ford Burgess

Fleeta Louise Ford Burgess, 85, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in Graham. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. in the Oasis of Grace Church. Burial will follow in South Bend Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Fleeta was born on December 24, 1924 in Olden, Texas to the late Louis Charles and Hattie Marr (Thompson) Ford. She married W.E. "Bill" Burgess on June 10, 1942 in Graham. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2010. Fleeta was a poet, artist, and songwriter. She was a member of Graham Art Guild, Faith Center Assembly of God, and, Trinity Christian Center.

Survivors include: daughters, Sherrye Nail and husband, John, Jane Nail, and Elaine Lankford and husband, Dan all of Graham; grandchildren, Angie Butler Peterson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Todd Foust of Graham, Priscilla Cusenbary of Graham, Julie Tennant of Graham, Dr. Burgess Lankford of San Antonio, Melissa Reese of Graham, and John Nail, Jr. of Springfield, Missouri; 9 great grandchildren; sister, June Butler of Noblesville, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Butler and sisters, Lou Singleton and Ida Mae Wade.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Open Door Christian School or any Christian Ministry.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
