Forrest H. "Jukebox" Burnham, 86, died Thursday, November 4, 2010 at his home in Graham. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Tony Nickel and Reverend Richard Segars officiating. A Masonic and Military graveside will follow at Gooseneck Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction Morrison Funeral Home.
Forrest was born September 11, 1924 in Quanah, Texas to the late Forrest H. and Dorothy Lee (Rogers) Burnham. Forrest was a Veteran of U.S. Army serving during World War II including the Normandy Invasion and Battle of the Bulge. Following his military service, Forrest worked in various occupations from dairy farming to oil well drilling. While working for a driller near Lubbock he was dubbed "Jukebox" because anytime he went into an eating place the 1st place he went was to the jukebox. Rather than continue in the oil business he decided to go to college. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry from Texas Tech University. He married Ludonna Berry, December 28, 1950 in Lubbock, Texas. Forrest was the Ag. Teacher at Graham High School from 1954 to 1959. He retired from the State Department of Health as a Food and Drug Inspector in Round Rock. Forrest moved to Graham in 1995 from Round Rock. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Graham, Young County Masonic Lodge #485, a lifetime member of the American Legion, VFW, Disabled American Veterans, and the Blind Veterans Association.
Survivors include; wife, Ludonna Burnham of Graham; daughter, Leesa Sager and husband Malcolm of Sinton; three sons, Dr. Nick Burnham and wife Suzy of Graham, David Burnham and wife Stacia of Fort Worth and Paul Burnham of College Station; sister, Judy Johnson of Cameron Park, CA.; ten grandchildren, Ben Burnham, Cole Burnham, Colby Phay, Ashley Burnham, Julie Burnham, Corey Burnham, Bonita Burnham, Clay Burnham, Alexis Sager, and Hayden Sager; one great grandchild, Raylen Burnham; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4 to 6 at the funeral home.
