Fred Nelson Akers

Fred Nelson Akers, 83, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in Eliasville. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel . Burial will follow in Murray Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Fred was born on May 16, 1929 in Eliasville to the late Hershel and Cecil (Reger) Akers. He married Nelda Rose Peacock on July 7, 1950 in Graham. Fred worked for Young County as a heavy machine operator for 38 years. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Graham.

Survivors include: wife, Nelda Akers of Eliasville; son, Donnie Wayne Akers, and wife, Sandy of Clyde; daughters, Belinda Sue Chapman and husband, Ben of Burkburnett and Sherry Pruitt and husband, Roy of Eliasville; brother, Clyde Akers of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Akers in 1983 and brothers, Carl and Floyd Akers, and a great grandson, Shawn Ireland McFadden, Jr.

We would like to give a special thanks to those friends and family that stood by my dad during his illness. We are forever grateful for your love and support.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
