Fred Gough

Fred was born to Charles O. Gough and Mary Frances (Bradford) Gough on August 14, 1946 in Graham, Texas. He graduated from Graham High School and the University of Texas at Arlington with a Business of Administration degree. While at UTA he played football and was drafted by the Detroit Lions where he played for two seasons before going on to a career in business. His early business career was in sales with Proctor and Gamble and then as an entrepreneur. He owned and operated several businesses from insurance and real estate, to oilfield services as well as cattle trucking. While in his cattle ownership and trucking business, he met and married "the love of his life", his "Lidda Bit" Pamela Odom Gough. They were married on December 31, 1994 in Odom Chapel in Snyder, Texas.

Fred served on many boards and committees including the Graham ISD, the Graham Hospital Foundation Board, local Republican Party, and Oak Street Baptist Church. He also and, most importantly, taught young adult Sunday school classes at First Baptist Church, Graham and Oak Street Baptist in Graham. He loved discipling young Believers and telling everyone of the Love of His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Although business was his gifting, telling others about Jesus was his passion. That passion was contagious!  Fred's life verse was, Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." He truly lived that verse.

Fred was preceded in death by his dad, Charles Gough and mom, Mary Frances Gough, daughter Casey Lynn Gough, son Clayton Max West, and niece Misti Lynn Ayers.

Fred is survived by Pamela Gough of the home, Brent Gough and wife Meredith of Aledo, Texas, Whitt West and wife Amanda of Amarillo, Texas, Carrie West and husband Dewey Hill of Bellevue, Texas, as well as six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Also surviving are siblings Ping Gough and wife Becky of Graham, Texas and Vicki Palmour and husband Sid of Graham, Texas.
