Fred Joy McCarroll

Fred Joy McCarroll, 87, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 in Graham. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Fred was born on November 26, 1922 in Mobeetie, Texas. After finishing Briscoe High School, Fred joined the Navy in 1941 and served as a Radioman, Second Class during World War II. He married Texas Pauline Miller on December 9, 1945.

Fred was always an adventurous person. He farmed and ranched in South Dakota, Brazil, and Portugal and moved to Graham in 1995.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marla McCarroll, his parents, John Marcus and Mattie Emma McCarroll, and three brothers, John McCarroll, Jr., Bill McCarroll, and Thearne McCarroll.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Texas McCarroll of Graham; his daughter and husband Dee and Antonio Pinto-Rodrigues of Graham and Vienna, Austria; his son and wife Fred J. and Elouisa McCarroll of Minas Gerais, Brazil; five grandchildren, Marla and Manuel Pinto-Rodrigues, Patrick, Karina, and Talitha McCarroll, and eight great grandchildren; his sister, Mary Dodd of Wheeler; his sister-in-law, Chris Roberts of Borger; nieces and nephews; C.G. and Rosemary Dodd of Wheeler; Jacque and John Foreman of Lubbock, Diane and Jack Cody of Graham, Ernest and Kathy McCarroll of Arlington, Sabina McCarroll of California, and Mark Miller of Borger.
