Furman Marvin Marrs, Jr., 88, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Furman was born May 14, 1925 in Cottle County, Texas to the late Furman Marvin and Ozie Irene (Long) Marrs, Sr. He married Madra Ryan November 2, 1962 in Ralls, Texas. Furman was a cotton farmer in Cottle County before moving to Graham in 1966. He was a former employee with Morrison Smith Lumber Co., Wignall Lumber Co., and Buchanan Building Supply. He owned his own Screen Shop for many years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: wife, Madra Marrs of Graham; daughter, Susan Marrs of Wichita Falls; sons, James Marrs and wife Heather of Breckenridge and Kenneth Marrs and wife Deborah of Iowa Park; grandchildren, Tabatha Miller, Steven Marrs, Robert Marrs, Melissa Marrs, and Christopher Marrs; several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and a brother.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Organization or a charity of your choice.
Family Visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
