Gary Dale “Gab” Sloan, 72, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020 in Graham, Texas. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 10 AM in Newcastle at the Methodist Church. Gary was a simple man, so if you would like to join us in celebrating his life, come dressed comfortable. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Gary was born on Thursday, July 31, 1947 in Graham, Texas to the late Elliott and Irene (Mayo) Sloan of Fort Belknap, Texas. Gary served in the Army and reenlisted for a second tour when he was stationed in Vietnam at the same time as his brother, Dois. He loved to hunt and fish on the Brazos river and had a love for animals, especially the feathered kind.
Gary is survived by daughters, Becky Hardin of Newcastle, and Marilyn Pulliam and husband Chris of Olney; grandchildren, Ryan Hardin, Shyla Hardin, Taylor Lewis and wife Jordan, Will Lewis, Derreck Ratcliff, Casey Herrington, and Caitlin Duncan; great grandchildren, Tucker Lewis, Harper Lewis, Jack Herrington, Doak Ratcliff, and Zack Ratcliff; stepchildren, Debbie Driver, Calvin Ratcliff, and Eddie Ratcliff; brother, Dannie Sloan and wife Sandra of Graham; sister, Judy Boone and husband David of Graham; sisters-in-law, Marsha Sloan of Graham and Pattie Key of Murray; he also had a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Runt Sloan of Fort Belknap, and Dois Sloan of Murray.
