Gene “Bug’s” Burns,81,passed away at his home in Eliasville, Friday July 10, 2015.

A Military Graveside funeral will be held, Sunday, July 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Cemetery in Young County.  Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

 

Gene was born June 30, 1934 in Graham, Texas to the late James Franklin and Hester Sussie (Brooks) Burns.  Gene served in the US Army and was a lifetime resident of Young County.  He married Sandra M. Smith, May 18, 1962 in Breckenridge.  She preceded him in death on April 8, 2008.  Gene was an employee of Young County, Pct. #2 where he did county road work and dug graves for the community of Eliasville.  He was a member of the Baptist Church and a member of Eliasville Volunteer Fire Department. 

 

Survivors include; daughters, Bonnie Garland of Fort Worth and Brenda Greenup of Waxahachie; son, Michael Burns and wife Diane of Eliasville; seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Burns and wife Jean of Abilene, Ray Burns and wife Lottie of Eliasville.

 

Gene was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jane Pollock and James Pollock; son-in-law, Joe Allen Greenup, Jr.
