Gene Garrett, 77, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 at his home in Bryson. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Frank Hefner of Mt. Home Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Markley Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Gene was born April 2, 1934 in Mankin, Texas to the late S.A. and Minnie May (Bates) Garrett. He was a Veteran of the Marines. He married Genita Carroll, February 5, 1955 in Gainesville, Texas. Gene moved to Bryson in 1998 from Sanger, Texas. He was a retired millwright for Able Machinery Movers, Inc.
Survivors include; wife, Genita Garrett of Bryson; daughters, Connie Johnson and husband Rodney of Wichita Falls, and Angela Neal and husband Jamie of Bryson; sons, Donnie Garrett and wife Mary of Johnson City and Kris Garrett and wife Tami of Loving; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
Gene was preceded in death by a son, Steven Garrett and a sister and a brother.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Home Missionary Baptist Church in Senate, Texas.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Graham.
