Genevieve E. Harrell

Genevieve E. Harrell, 86, died Sunday, May 31, 2009 in Graham. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Reverend James C. Hill, pastor and Gary Tull officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Genevieve was born June 7, 1922 in Denton, Texas to the late Oscar W. and Odessa Swindell Stewart. She graduated from North Texas State University with a Masters of Education Degree. Genevieve married Weldon J. Harrell July 26, 1954 in Grand Prairie, Texas. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1994. Genevieve moved to Graham in 1954 and became a teacher for Graham Public Schools where she taught for thirty three years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Beta Sigma Chapter President 1968-1970, member of Mu Lambda Chapter, and member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of Texas Retired Teachers Association and Texas State Teachers Association. Genevieve served four terms, 1988-1996, as a member of Texas Silver-Haired Legislatures.

Survivors include; brother, Oscar W. Stewart of Houston; thirteen nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard S. Stewart.
