George D. Elliott

George D. Elliott, 79, passed away Monday August 28, 2023 in Wichita Falls.  Graveside funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Friday September 1, 2023 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Graham under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

George was born June 6, 1944 in Graham to the late Pauline (Rodgers) Elliott and George Bell Elliott.  He served in the United States Navy as a BT 1 Petty Officer aboard the USS Tortuga.  He married Zana Frances House, May 15, 1972 in Wichita Falls.  She preceded him in death on September 29, 2017.  George retired as an Infrastructure Superintendent with the USAF in Wichita Falls after 27 1/2 years.  He was a member of the North Texas Classic Car Club in Wichita Falls.    

Survivors include; daughters, Sherry Halter of Wichita Falls and Christy Cox of Farmersville; grandchildren, Jessi McBride and husband Kody of Wichita Falls, Jake Gossett and wife Morgan of Greenville, Justin Gossett of Wichita Falls, Colton Halter of San Marcos, Alyssa Halter of Wichita Falls, Lexi Halter of Wichita Falls, and Lainy Halter of Wichita Falls; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

George was preceded in death by his parents, step father Roy Webb Hammett, brother Billie Don Elliott, and sister Patricia Merrill.
