Gerald Sweetland "Red" Davison, 97, died on Thursday, April 1, 2010 in Graham. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Eastside Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Red was born on May 27, 1912 in Jasper County, Missouri to the late John Wheeler and Lena Sweetland Davison. He came to Texas in 1936, where in 1940, he met and married Beatrice Ward. He started "Radio Dead, Call Red" in 1938 and sold "Red's TV" on Elm Street in 1977. He was a member of the Eastside Church of Christ, Charter member of Graham Lions Club, Kiwanis Club and Chairman of Young County March of Dimes, helping so many children during the polio epidemic.
Survivors include: wife of 70 years, Hazel Beatrice of Graham; daughter, Sherry Pettus and husband, Carey of Graham; son, Larry Davison and wife, Teresa of Freeport; daughter, Marilyn Garretson and husband, Dwane of Katy; granddaughters, Heather Lindley and husband, Kary of Graham, Suzanne Garretson of Austin; great granddaughter, Maddie Lindley of Graham; sister, Lena Metcalf of Kansas.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Damon, Leland, Leon, and a sister, Olive Rush.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
