Glendolyn Hammon, 93, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 in Glen Rose. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hawkins Chapel in Young County under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Glendolyn was born November 11, 1919 in Loving to the late Thomas Theodore and Annie (Grant) Rice. She married Albert McSwain Hammon in 1941. He preceded her in death July 25, 1997. She attended Kilgore Jr. College where she was a member of Kilgore Rangerettes, Jr. College doubles tennis champion and captain of her row boat team. From 5th grade through high school she pitched for several softball teams including the Ford V8's of Olney. Glendolyn received her bachelor's from Texas Woman's University and was an English teacher.
Survivors include: sons, Albert Tom Hammon of Glen Rose and Paul Reed Hammon of Houston; daughter, Glenda Alice Endres of The Colony; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sister, Paula Cosby and brother, Theodore Rice, Jr.
Family visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
