Monday February 10th, 2014 was the final day for Haven Charles Snow's life here on earth. It had been a very long ride, 73 years to be exact. Surprisingly, he went peacefully in his sleep out at his "Tin Can" in Graham, TX. His survivors had all expected him to go in a much more dramatic affair - wagon wreck, horse accident, etc. Those survivors feeling blessed of his way of passing are Monte Snow & wife, Tiffany living in Loving, TX with the only two grandchildren - Hunter McDonald & Ms. Lil Haven Snow, Sister's Peggy Snow of Loving, Linda Crayton & husband Daniel of Farmer, brother's Don Snow & Wife Marsha of Graham, & Tommy Snow of Troy and several cousins, nieces, & nephews., not to mention many many dear friends.
The legend of Haven Snow began January 4, 1941 in Electra, Texas by Valda Edith Norman & Furney Thomas Snow. Haven's legendary life included being a proud track star and graduate of Graham High School, serving the United States Army in the Korean War, retiring as the Scales Inspector for the great State of Texas, being a baptized member of Loving Baptist Church, riding with the Sherriff's Posse, and infamous chuck wagon cook with the American Chuck Wagon Association.
Those family members he met in heaven include his parents, Sister Patsy Daugherty, and Brothers Bud & Ray Snow.
We will begin to reminisce our Great Have at family visitation: Morrison Funeral Home, Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm. Then to fully celebrate his life, we will gather at the Loving Community Center Thursday Feb 13th at 11:00 am for his final ride in the wagon to his resting spot at Loving Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Loving Community Center, PO Box 400, Loving, TX 76460. A place Haven always enjoyed the picking and grinning.
