Herb Curry, 86, died Monday December 8, 2008 in Graham. A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, December 12, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in Pioneer Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Bob Holloway, pastor officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Herb was born April 23, 1922 in Desdemona, Texas to the late Samuel Chandler and Mabel (Barber) Curry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. Herb married Dolores Grotzky, June 12, 1944 in Sterling, Kansas. Herb retired as Postmaster of Newcastle Post Office after 10 years and 19 years as a Postal Clerk in Graham. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Post Office Workers Union.
Survivors include; wife, Dolores Curry of Graham; daughters, Lila Herder of Graham and Jeannie Curry of Ellerbe, NC.; son, Herbert Curry, Jr. of Creede, CO.; five grandchildren and one great grandchild; sisters, Pauline Hardin of Newcastle and Wanda Whatley of Tehachapi,CA.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
